BPA was tasked with addressing Blue Cross and Blue Shields’ growing needs for their employee child care services and includes a mission-critical safe room. The project included the renovation and addition of the Blue Cross Blue Shield corporate-owned Child Development Center (CDC) to meet current and future needs and was intended to increase the capacity of each category of child development rooms as well as incorporate the sick child component from the main corporate office. The center is currently accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The Child Development Center features a code-compliant safe room and was programmed at the beginning of the project to be integral to the rest of the operational characteristics of the addition and renovation scopes of work. We proposed the safe room to double as a multi-purpose space, and is presently in use for its intended purpose.
